High-throughput purification is a critical step for antibody engineering and screening. Protein purification is traditionally conducted using resin columns (e.g., protein A columns, Ni-charged columns, etc.). But this method is limited by low-throughput and a complicated sample preparation process that required sampled to be cleared by centrifugation or filtration prior to loading onto the purification columns. This requirement makes it challenging to extend the use of column-based methods to applications requiring high-throughput antibody purification. Magnetic beads-based purification systems are simpler to operate as they eliminate the need to remove lysed or used cells by centrifugation or sample filtration. In addition, magnetic beads-based technology can be easily extended to a high-throughput purification system, providing significant savings in time and labor.
