“The vision of deeper system integration between vendors had the potential to change how patients, their families, as well as clinical staff could have the best hospital experience possible,” said David Linetsky, MEDI+SIGN Founder and CEO.

McLaren Northern Michigan has been chosen as the winner of ECRI’s 16th Health Technology Excellence Award for seamless integration of cutting-edge patient care technologies utilized in their newly built hospital addition. MEDI+SIGN is proud to have played a key role in this groundbreaking project.

For more than five decades ECRI has utilized an unbiased, evidence-based approach to protect patients from unsafe and ineffective medical technologies and practices. The Health Technology Excellence Award is presented each year from ECRI to recognize innovative and effective initiatives undertaken by healthcare institutions to improve patient safety, reduce costs, or otherwise facilitate better strategic management of health technology. ECRI received award entries from hospitals in the United States, as well as internationally, including from Columbia, India, Pakistan, New Zealand, and Canada.

McLaren’s award-winning submission described the regional hospital’s expansion plan to build 200 private patient rooms and a range of clinical care areas. In addition to the new physical spaces, the focus of the project was to build the safest and most advanced integrated patient experience, requiring several leading technology and communications companies to work together. Bridging key systems central to patient monitoring and safety, staff communications, electronic medical record access, as well as Internet Protocol television (IPTV) and entertainment together under one easy-to-use system is a very unique, complex vision that requires the right team willing to collaborate. All parties understood the importance and value of teamwork required to bring this truly unique, all inclusive technological system to fruition with an ultimate goal of keeping patients safe.

“The vision of deeper system integration between vendors had the potential to change how patients, their families, as well as clinical staff could have the best hospital experience possible,” said David Linetsky, MEDI+SIGN Founder and CEO. “From the inception of MEDI+SIGN, we have been leading the industry in hospital patient room technology, continuously improving our products with the ultimate goal of making hospitals safer. When you can not only improve your business structure but also collaborate and challenge yourself and your partners to push their products and services forward, all while improving the way hospitals operate, it’s inspiring.”

MEDI+SIGN continues to optimize integrations with technology partners involved in this project, identifying opportunities for strategic improvements and ensuring the technology stays ahead of the medical industry and McLaren Northern Michigan’s growth.
