The Clean Cooking Alliance (CCA) and the Government of Ghana announced today that registration is open for the Clean Cooking Forum 2022.

Taking place October 11-13 in Accra, clean cooking’s flagship event will convene investors, executives, government officials, academics, and advocates from around the world working to accelerate access to clean cooking.

Register for the Forum now.

Designed for in-person and virtual participation, the Forum is scheduled to take place at the Kempinski Hotel Gold Coast City and is expected to attract more than 500 attendees and hundreds more virtually. Across high-level plenaries and over 20 curated breakout sessions, attendees will engage on topics such as financing and investment, technology and business innovation, climate funding and results-based financing, national policymaking that supports market growth, youth and women’s empowerment, and much more. The Forum will also feature an Innovation Expo, showcasing the latest developments in clean cooking technologies and business models.

“The Clean Cooking Forum will provide a fitting platform to showcase Ghana’s global leadership on this critical issue, and we are delighted to welcome participants to Ghana for this important international event,” said the Honorable Akosua Frema Osei-Opare, Chief of Staff to H.E. President of Ghana Nana Akufo-Addo. “Not only is clean cooking central to Ghana’s Nationally Determined Contribution to the Paris Agreement, but it’s a cornerstone of our country’s efforts on energy access, economic growth, improved health, and women’s empowerment.”

“We must think of clean cooking as an issue that cuts across many other socio-economic concerns, and therefore requires the attention of many different ministries, as well as investors and development partners, if we are to reach universal access,” said Her Excellency the Second Lady of Ghana and CCA Champion Hajia Samira Bawumia. “This Forum is an important sign of how Ghana is prioritizing clean cooking efforts even more in the years ahead – not just at home, but across West Africa and at a global level.”

Traditionally a biennial event, the 2022 Forum was delayed by one year due to risks of COVID-19. Taking place less than a month before COP27 in Egypt, and with the 2030 target date of the Sustainable Development Goals quickly approaching, the Forum is poised to be a crucial catalyst for progress toward global energy, health, gender, and climate goals.

Attendees will also have the opportunity to network during business-to-business matchmaking sessions and evening receptions. In addition, the Forum’s convening power will facilitate a selection of side events hosted by CCA and partners, including a session dedicated to clean cooking advancements in Ghana, a “Masterclass” on fundraising and investment, and a session on standards and testing to ensure high-quality, clean cooking technologies.

CCA would like to thank Forum sponsors, including the African Development Bank, Global Affairs Canada, the Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, the World Bank/ESMAP, and BIX Capital.

Early bird registration is now open and will close on September 1, when standard registration will become available. For more information about the Forum, registration, and sponsorship information, please visit https://cleancooking.org/forum2022/.
