Q5id Guardian, created by Q5id, Inc., has proudly become a Dementia Society of America (DSA) sponsor. As a sponsor, Q5id Guardian will help to promote DSA’s activities, and together will strengthen both organizations’ commitments to serving communities, individuals living with dementia, and their care partners.
A major concern about caring for someone living with dementia is the worry they may leave the safety of their home undetected (elope). More than half of those living with Alzheimer’s disease, Vascular Dementia, Lewy Body Dementia, or other causes of dementia may leave the comfort of their home at least once, and when they do, they can become disoriented, enter a phase called “critical wandering,” and are unlikely able to find their way home.
Like DSA, Guardian works to proactively prepare and protect the community. We provide people with trustworthy tools and educational resources, so they can have a plan of action in the event of a missing person. Q5id Guardian can help bring peace of mind to family members or caregivers of someone who lives with dementia. Guardian will be a valuable tool for those individuals to utilize if someone in their care leaves and becomes lost and disoriented. The Q5id Guardian app and community will serve as the first line of defense for those who want to protect their loved ones living with dementia.
The Dementia Society of America shares essential information, local resources, and life-enrichment to individuals and families impacted by dementia. The DSA’s goal is to help educate the community about dementia to help raise awareness and eradicate misinformation. In addition to providing knowledge and understanding of dementia, they also strive to equip the general public with the most useful tools to help combat the negative impacts of dementia, like the Q5id Guardian app. DSA strives to support anyone who may be affected by dementia in any capacity. “Dementia is a large concern in the United States. A recent study predicts that by 2040 7.2 million people, 65 and older, will be living with dementia. In the US alone, 6 out of 10 people living with dementia will leave the safety of their homes, not remembering how to find their own way back,” says Q5id CEO Steve Larson. “Q5id understands the impact dementia has on a growing part of the population. That is one reason why we created our Guardian solution! It will truly help revolutionize how those living with dementia are found when lost. We are pleased to join the DSA in helping raise awareness and educate every community member about the effects of dementia and how the Guardian app is an invaluable tool for caregivers.”
“Create the best possible tomorrows by taking the most meaningful actions today,” is the way Kevin Jameson, DSA’s Chairman, and CEO puts it. “Our volunteer-driven organization welcomes the relationship with Q5id Guardian and its volunteer communities to help find missing loved ones throughout the United States.”
Q5id Guardian is excited to begin educating and empowering communities to help support caregivers, families, and those living with dementia.
