Sri Ganapathy Sachchidananda Swamiji achieves Guinness World Records for largest online video album of walking (Walkathon)

His Holiness Sri Ganapathy Sachchidananda Swamiji has received a Guinness World Record for the virtual walkathon which gave an opportunity for the devotees to virtually participate in the walkathon “Vishwashanti Pada Yatra” helmed by Sri Datta Vijayananda Teertha Swamiji from the birth place to Pujya Swamiji to His present abode, Avadhoota Datta Peetham Mysore.

While the walkathon was conducted for bringing the waters of Kaveri (from the birth spot of Sri Swamiji) to worship Sri Swamiji’s feet, it subtly and successfully promoted the various initiatives and visions of Pujya Swamiji such as -

  • Protection of cows and arrangement ambulances for them.
  • Arranging of free medical camps, providing medicines and medical treatment to the women and children from economically weaker sections who are suffering from cancer and other diseases.
  • Helping of Vedic schools that are financially weak.
  • Helping of the poor farmers.
  • Protecting of Nature through the planting of trees.

Putting every muscle of the body to work, a few devotees accompanied Pujya Sri Swamiji for more than 100 km walkathon. As Sri Swamiji walked, so did thousands of devotees across the world walk virtually with Him creating, at that time, a Datta Universe that was supporting the purpose of Sri Ganapathy Sachchidananda Swamiji’s mission. The entire Datta Universe reverberated with their steps that symbolise the steps taken to make His divine initiatives successful. Videos of these virtual walkathons that were required to certain criteria were used for the walkathon.

During the walkathon, Sri Swamiji sojourned in various small towns and villages to interact with the people, spread Sri Swamiji’s message and help them in every which way possible. Sri Swamiji was welcomed with reverential love in every place and the people expressed their gratitude, humble wishes, and happiness on occasion of Pujya Sri Swamiji’s 80th year birthday. The six-day walkathon ended with Sri Swamiji being received in grandeur in Mysore ashrama and cleansing Pujya Swamiji’s holy feet with Kaveri water thus creating a record.

While Sri Swamiji has created and broken 9 others Guinness world records in the past, these records are special as they clearly demonstrate the immense commitment of the devotees and public at large towards Sri Swamiji. It is evident that the thousands of participants will get involved in every possible initiative and work towards the Universal peace and Harmony that Sri Swamiji envisions.
