Author Beryl Lavender is joined by Canon Michael Faure for Volume III of her series “Is the Bible a Dangerous Book?”, entitled Problems, Praises and Proverbs ($19.99, paperback, 9781662842726; $9.99, e-book, 9781662842733).
In this easy-to-read Bible commentary, Lavender shows readers that the Bible is still extraordinarily relevant today. This volume addresses Job, Psalms, Proverbs, Ecclesiastes and the Song of Solomon, as well as historical accusations against Christians, such as their involvement in the fall of Ancient Rome and European Dark Ages.
Lavender said she was inspired by “an awareness of how few people really knew the Bible”.
South African-born Beryl Lavender, now living in the UK, majored in English and History at the University of Natal. She is also author to the first two volumes in this series, The Story of the Torah and The Broken Contract.
Canon Michael Faure contributed to the sections on the Psalms. He is the retired canon of the Cathedral in Johannesburg.
