symplr®, the leader in enterprise healthcare operations including governance, risk management and compliance (GRC) SaaS solutions, announced today that Kristin Russel has joined the company as chief marketing officer (CMO). Russel reports directly to symplr’s CEO, BJ Schaknowski.
Named as one of Becker’s top 110 women in medtech(1), Russel is a tenured leader and visionary in the healthcare technology industry. In her role as CMO, Russel will drive the development and execution of symplr’s comprehensive marketing strategy, which includes branding, digital, and product marketing. Additional responsibilities include sales enablement, public relations, community outreach programs, channel partnerships, and business development.

Before joining symplr, Russel led marketing at Quest Analytics and Carrot Inc., where she drove revenue and new growth initiatives through focused efforts in brand building and demand generation. She also held senior marketing positions at Humana, Cerner and Omnicell. Russel is a successful entrepreneur, having founded fin-tech company Anachron, which was ultimately sold to ING Bank. She has a bachelor’s degree from McMaster University in Canada, an MBA from Ecole Superieur de Commerce in France and a Master of Public Administration from Carleton University in Canada.
