Sino Nasal Undifferentiated Carcinoma (SNUC) is a rare and highly aggressive nasal cancer that can be difficult to diagnose and treat. Approximately 2,000 people in the United States develop SNUC each year; therefore, only a few doctors have much experience treating it. Moreover, because SNUC symptoms can often be mistaken for allergies or sinus infections, it is often overlooked to begin SNUC treatment.
NACR Foundation is dedicated to promoting early childhood literacy and cancer research in partnership with Stanford University and Osborne Head and Neck Institute. The organization was established in honor of Natlie A Cole Reagins, an elementary school teacher who was diagnosed with SNUC and died within six months of her diagnosis. April 11 (4/11) was selected in memory of Natlie’s birthday and also as the numbers 411 are synonymous with getting information.
The Foundation will kick off SNUC Day with a private candle lighting ceremony in support of SNUC research and finding a cure. Members of the public are also being invited to commemorate the day and support the campaign by using the hashtags #SNUCday and #NationalSNUCday. They are also offering an opportunity for individuals to donate $4.11 or more. NACR Foundation collaborates with multiple medical centers specializing in SNUC research and treatment. Therefore, 100% of the donations will go towards SNUC research.
President of NACR, Denae Reagins said: “SNUC is a silent killer and we are as committed as ever to raising awareness and eventually finding a cure for this disease. When you think about it $4.11 is not much, but it will really make a big difference if everyone chips in. We are extending an invitation to the public to join us on April 11 and help us in our mission to find a cure and make this disease a memory.”
