Behavioral Health Center of Excellence (BHCOE) today announced the appointment of David J. Cox, Ph.D., MSB, BCBA-D as Chief Data Officer. In his role, Dr. Cox is responsible for executing a unified data strategy across BHCOE to provide organizations pursuing accreditation a seamless and technology-enabled customer experience. In addition, he is responsible for leveraging BHCOE’s considerable dataset to further advance the company’s predictive analytics and machine learning initiatives that surround the clinical benchmarking and analytics offerings.
“BHCOE’s accreditation evaluation spans the entire patient experience, touching patient intake, discharge, onboarding of staff, and measurement of patient progress. As a result, we capture relevant data that allows accredited organizations to continuously monitor and improve their patient outcomes. With David’s track record in data and analytics, we believe he is well qualified to lead in these critical areas as Chief Data Officer. In addition, we expect his experience in other verticals of behavioral health to expand our capabilities related to technology and data analytics,” said Sara Gershfeld Litvak, Chief Executive Officer.
Before joining BHCOE, Dr. Cox served as Principal Analyst of Behavior Science and Analytics with Guidewell and Florida Blue, an Independent Licensee of the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association.

Dr. Cox brings over fourteen years of experience in the behavioral health and data science industries. He is a licensed doctorate-level Board Certified Behavior Analyst and has worked extensively with the ASD community in both clinical and research settings. Dr. Cox holds a Ph.D. in Behavior Analysis from the University of Florida and has completed post-doctorates in behavioral pharmacology and behavioral economics from Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and a post-doctorate in data science through the Insight Fellows program.
