It was all hands on deck this year for my HALO 2.2 team as we worked to lend our part in stemming the COVID-19 pandemic” stated David Antar President of IPVideo Corporation.

The HALO Smart Sensor 2.2 now includes sound alert incident management including alerts for spoken key words, advanced gunshot detection and can assist with the workplace return from COVID- 19.

HALO 2.2 won ‘ASTORS’ Homeland Security Award from American Security Today in two categories:

1.    Best Alert Notification Solution Platinum Award

2.    Best Sound and Chemical Incident Detection System Platinum Award

The HALO Smart Sensor is widely known as the leading worldwide vape and THC detector being used by thousands of schools to combat and educate on the dangers of youth vaping. With its latest 2.2 release HALO is helping institutions combat the spread of COVID-19 by monitoring air quality conditions and alerting to unhealthy conditions determined by EPA and ASHRAE guidelines. As part of its AQI measurements, HALO monitors CO2, VOC, NO2, particle sizes, and concentrations in the air. By monitoring particle sizes, HALO can track the level of particles in a room and inform the occupants or facilities staff when the particle levels have reached unsafe levels. Occupants can open windows to bring in fresh air and lower these levels thus making the room a safer environment for working or learning. Facilities can also be alerted that the MERV filters should be inspected and replaced. HALO 2.2 can also notify HVAC systems via its BACNET interface, instructing the HVAC to open its dampers and allow more fresh air into the room.

The Annual ‘ASTORS’ Awards, now in its fifth year, is the preeminent U.S. Homeland Security Awards Program, highlighting the most cutting-edge and forward-thinking security solutions coming onto the market today.

“2020 has been a very challenging year for everyone due to the COVID-19 pandemic however, the 2020 ‘ASTORS’ Homeland Security Awards Program was again a huge success and many new categories were added including a section for COVID-19 Detection and Innovation,” said Michael Madsen, co-founder, and publisher of American Security Today.

The program is specifically designed to honor distinguished government and vendor solutions that deliver enhanced value, benefit, and intelligence to end-users in a variety of government, homeland security, enterprise, and public safety vertical markets.

“Today, the United States is increasingly focusing on protecting public spaces and they are calling on innovative companies like IPVideo Corporation and their HALO Smart Sensor 2.2 to help them do so,” according to Tammy Waitt, co-founder and editorial director of American Security Today.

“‘ASTORS’ nominations are evaluated on their technical innovation, interoperability, specific impact within the category, overall impact to the industry, relatability to other industry technologies, and application feasibility outside of the industry,” concluded Waitt.
