Promises Behavioral Health Announces Sam MacMaster, Ph.D. as Corporate Director of Clinical Operations

Promises Behavioral Health, a leader in addiction and mental health treatment services, announced today the addition of its new Corporate Director of Clinical Operations. Sam MacMaster joins the Promises corporate team as a leader in mental health and substance use disorder program design and service delivery. With over 30 years of experience, Sam brings his wealth of knowledge to the team as Promises gears up for a year of growth.

Sam began his behavioral health career shortly after his own recovery in 1988, working in a variety of addiction treatment centers for over a decade. During this time, Sam pursued his academic goals, earning a bachelor’s in psychology from Miami University, his master’s of science in social administration at Case Western Reserve University and finally getting his Ph.D. as a doctor in social welfare. Dr. MacMaster was a tenured member of the faculty at the College of Social Work at the University of Tennessee in Nashville while also conducting important research on addiction and access to care. He would later move on to Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas, where he continues to be engaged in research on behavioral health as a member of the faculty in the Department of Family and Community Medicine. During this time, Sam also co-founded Journey Pure, which focused on providing accessible and affordable addiction care.

As the Corporate Director of Clinical Operations, Sam will help design, deliver and ensure that the treatment services are of the highest quality of care and backed by conclusive research and clinical evidence. Sam is driven to truly help people find themselves through scientifically effective addiction and mental health treatment services. With his extensive experience in behavioral health programming planning, he understands what it takes to provide quality treatment that is affordable and accessible to make a meaningful impact on clients.
