HealthLX 3.3 Helps Healthcare Payers & Software Vendors Cross the Interoperability Finish Line for CMS Compliance

Healthcare interoperability pioneer HealthLX (HLX) announced it has released version 3.3 of its core platform. HealthLX is a managed clinical data exchange solution that drives business agility and advantage for payers and software vendors by enabling healthcare interoperability. With deadlines under the CMS Interoperability and Patient Access Final Rule quickly approaching, HealthLX has seen a sharp increase in focus by health plans on compliance with the mandate. A primary advantage of the HealthLX platform, now version 3.3, is that it enables payers to cross the finish line on compliance without incurring unnecessary costs, spending the time to build their own custom solutions, or replacing legacy systems.

In addition to an enhanced security infrastructure for FHIR/CMS protocols, including OAuth 2.0 and SMART on FHIR, other features new in HealthLX 3.3 include:

  • An enhanced FHIR server that supports several Da Vinci Payer Data Exchange (PDex) use cases, including those required by new CMS rules. The HealthLX enhanced FHIR Server is designed to support Patient API, Provider Directory, and eventually Payer-to-Payer data exchange, all out of the box. HealthLX 3.3 also gives health plans drag-and-drop capability to configure a FHIR Server via the Workflow Editor. The enhanced FHIR Server is also available in HealthLX’s free FHIR Starter Pak (FSP) offering.
  • A series of Workflow editor enhancements, including CSV templates for USCDI resource types previously available only in FSP. Health plans can now rely on the HealthLX 3.3 platform to import CCD and 837 file formats and process them into FHIR resources.

“One of our guiding principles for development of the HealthLX platform has been to enable interoperability with legacy or custom systems,” said HealthLX COO Charlie Provenzano. “We’re delivering on that commitment with a HealthLX 3.3 feature that allows technical professionals to import heavily-customized action components directly into our platform through the Workflow Editor. This innovation takes clients another step forward with interoperability without significant investment of their time or dollars.”

“HealthLX has been making strides forward in healthcare interoperability for years now through our work with payers and software vendors, and as a founding and active member of the Da Vinci Project,” said Will Tesch, CEO of HealthLX. “That’s one of the reasons HealthLX was listed as a Vendor by Gartner in its Hype Cycle for U.S. Healthcare Payers, 2020 Report. It is exciting and rewarding for us to see interoperability gain widespread momentum as organizations prepare for compliance with CMS Final Rule mandates. We expect that momentum to ramp up quickly as the July 1, 2021 deadline draws near.”
