“Lifesum and Amazon Halo are aligned on our approach to health and this collaboration gives users the best from both brands. Nutrition is not one size fits all. Instead, it’s extremely personal – you have to figure out what works for you.” – Henrik Torstensson, CEO of Lifesum

The digital health app, Lifesum, and Amazon have announced they are teaming up to bring Lifesum nutrition coaching to Amazon Halo, a new service dedicated to helping customers improve their individual health and wellness.
Under the collaboration, Lifesum is introducing interactive nutritional challenges and health content to Amazon Halo, helping users see how their nutrition may impact their mind, body, and overall well-being.
The CEO of Lifesum, Henrik Torstensson, says the technology allows consumers to experience, explore, and test how specific actions, such as eating a more plant-based diet or drinking less caffeine, may influence how they feel.
“Lifesum and Amazon Halo are aligned on our approach to health and this collaboration gives users the best from both brands,” said Torstensson. “Nutrition is not one size fits all. Instead, it’s extremely personal – you have to figure out what works for you. Together, Lifesum and Amazon Halo will help users explore and find the best health and nutritional approach for them.”
Amazon Halo Labs are 1-4 week challenges or experiments that help members discover healthier habits that work for them. At launch, members will have access to 10 Lifesum-developed labs, which will guide them through simple, trackable nutrition-focused challenges that test the impact small changes can have on their health over time.
In addition to labs from Lifesum, Halo members can choose from more than 100 science-backed labs created by health, mind, body, and social life experts, helping users look, sleep, and feel their best.
Melissa Cha, Vice President of Amazon Halo, says working with Lifesum was a natural fit, given their expertise and leadership in digital health.
“Nutrition is a key part of any health and wellness journey, so we are excited to offer Amazon Halo members labs from Lifesum’s team of experts. Lifesum shares our commitment to helping customers improve their health through long-lasting behavioral changes,” said Melissa Cha, Vice President of Amazon Halo. “Together, we will help customers discover what works best for them.”
More than 45 million consumers use Lifesum to improve the way they eat, drink, and exercise. The app consistently ranks in the Top-10 in Health & Fitness on the App Store. Lifesum is a recipient of the Editor’s Choice award on the App Store.
How Lifesum Labs will Work on Halo
Lifesum helps users identify their personal health goals and motivations, using technology, psychology and professional dietitians. Together, they create a tailored plan for users, helping them improve the way they eat, drink and exercise for sustainable, long-term benefits.
Lifesum’s Halo labs challenges take place over 1-4 weeks and will show consumers how to turn nutritional information into action. Nutritional challenges are centered around health goals such as eating more plant-based foods, exploring the health benefits of intermittent fasting, and trading ultra-processed foods for a cleaner diet.
For example, a healthy weight and body composition can prevent lifestyle-related diseases such as obesity, coronary heart disease, and Type 2 diabetes. Intermittent fasting can be one approach for weight loss since it has been shown to promote fat loss while maintaining muscle mass. Research has also shown that intermittent fasting can improve blood sugar levels, as well as increase mental clarity and improve sleep.
Consumers who want to try Lifesum’s intermittent fasting lab will get reminders and progress reports to help them stay on track. With intermittent fasting (16:8), consumers only eat during an 8-hour window of their choosing and fast for the remaining 16 hours of the day. The challenge will also remind consumers to drink plenty of water throughout the day – a habit many consumers frequently forget.
At the end of the day, Labs will ask consumers a simple yes or no question: “Did you fast for 16 hours today?” Once the lab is completed, users will see result summaries that demonstrate the impact that small changes can have on their health. Lifesum will only receive aggregated, anonymized data about the labs to help improve the experience offered to Amazon Halo customers.
