COVID Secure is an application designed in the state of Alaska USA by medical clinicians and tailored to suit real-world healthcare needs. As the COVID-19 pandemic populated globally it was realized a tool with precise communications technology, specifically designed to help prevent the spread of this new disease, is necessary. As a result, COVID Secure was developed to be a comprehensive solution.
Led by Dr. Wade Erickson, M.D., founder of Capstone Clinic in Alaska, healthcare clinicians at Capstone partnered with a team of skilled tech developers to expedite the creation of this powerful and effective online application. Capstone Clinic was the first private medical clinic in Alaska to offer on-site COVID-19 testing through its mobile-care units in early 2020, expanding to airport and commercial fishing centers across the state. Alaska’s record-low COVID cases and mortality rates inspired a national remedy.
“Our COVID Secure app is a combination of months of working with health industry leaders, government agencies and school districts to develop a technology solution enabling our nation’s workforce and students to return to near normal activities in the safest possible manner,” says Dr. Erickson. “The online app is user-friendly and easy to access, which matters to all of us.”
COVID Secure ensures communities, government sectors, healthcare facilities, and local industries continue to function because of state-of-the-art testing and monitoring technology for the SARS-Cov-2 virus (that causes COVID-19). The app can be accessed on computers and iPhone/Android devices. The implementation of the technology fits in nearly all work and government applications, which will be particularly convenient for schools, health care facilities and travel sectors.
“COVID Secure is being used at Alaskan airports now, and we’re connecting with large and small businesses, government agencies, school districts, hospitality and tourism centers to offer the same intuitive user-interface and technology,” says Dr. Erickson. “The sophisticated back-end reporting allows entities to track their specific population in real time and ensure a safer environment. We will also be integrating contact-tracing technology to reduce quarantines when positive test results surface. It will conceivably change work-force and travel protocols, and allow Alaska and the nation to get back to normal.”
