In this affiliation program, Professional teams up with over 100 schools and their students to provide a hands-on experience in a variety of orthopedic conditions. As all regular affiliations were cancelled, the University of Delaware sought out alternatives to allow their students to graduate on time. The clinical excellence team at Professional Physical Therapy developed a plan, identified clinical instructors willing to take on a virtual student, and hit the ground running with this program.
Academic Director of Clinical Services and Residency Training at the University of Delaware, Tara Jo Manal, states, “Professional Physical Therapy demonstrated their flexibility as well as their true desire to reach for new opportunities and cutting edge practice when they agreed to host the University of Delaware Doctor of Physical Therapy students as virtual partners in the care of their telehealth patients. Professional recognized that in this new time, students need to gain skills that were not even considered essential months ago. They embraced the opportunity to bring our students along as they pivoted to telehealth for the continued care of patients in need as COVID-19 hit.”
