NSMOC’s expanded Sports Medicine Services will be guided by the same principles that have earned our Hip Preservation Program worldwide recognition.

The Nashville Hip Institute is excited to announce that it is returning to its roots as Nashville Sports Medicine and Orthopaedic Center (NSMOC). While remaining committed to our hip services, we have listened to our patients who would again like to visit our practice for other joint and sports injuries.
Many of the commonly used arthroscopic techniques for the hip were pioneered by Dr. Thomas Byrd, right here in Nashville. In addition to Dr. Byrd’s surgical innovations, our highly specialized team of nurse practitioners, physical therapists, and athletic trainers is recognized for its leadership in developing treatment strategies for injuries of all types. NSMOC’s expanded Sports Medicine Services will be guided by the same principles that have earned our Hip Preservation Program worldwide recognition. These include:
-
• Injury prevention and injury recovery that does not require surgery – supervision and guidance from our skilled physical therapy team helps to accomplish these goals - • Less invasive arthroscopic repair techniques – achieving restoration of function and return to activities with a quicker recovery and fewer complications
In the spirit of this commitment to providing the latest technology in state-of-the-art orthopaedic care, Nashville Sports Medicine is also proud to announce the arrival of Dr. Alexander Brown, an exceptionally talented, highly trained young orthopaedic surgeon. Dr. Brown’s heritage includes a strong family background in medicine and equally strong family ties to the Middle Tennessee and Kentucky area.
Dr. Brown will continue the legacy upon which Nashville Sports Medicine was originally founded. He specializes in conservative and surgical management of simple to complex injuries of the knee, shoulder, and elbow. Additionally, he performs joint replacement surgery for the knee, hip, and shoulder; and has mastery in the use of robotic surgery for these procedures.
