Global Sports Marketing Experts Launch Women-Owned, Diversity Led Cannabis Consulting Group

I saw firsthand how athletes were being offered harmful pain management options. While learning about cannabis, I realized it was imperative that we develop healthier alternatives and find ways to inspire more minorities to get involved with the cannabis industry.

Dope Girls Consulting, a women-owned, diversity led cannabis consulting group, recently launched with headquarters in Chicago, Illinois. Co-founded by sports marketing experts Rachel Bradley and Rene Chatfield, the firm is focused on helping minorities gain traction in the cannabis industry.

Dope Girls Consulting is a full-service agency providing cannabis license application support and industry-specific marketing, branding, and design advisement. “We noticed there was a lack of resources available to small businesses and applicants with less startup capital. Dope Girls Consulting grew out of a desire to help people from all backgrounds enter this thriving industry,” said Bradley.

The national firm is currently working with Illinois cannabis license applicants under the state’s social equity program. Administered by the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation, the program uses a formula to award licenses to racially disadvantaged groups who live in areas with high rates of cannabis-related arrests, convictions and incarcerations.

“Cannabis leadership positions are primarily held by white males. Our focus is changing the narrative and serve as industry catalysts for a more inclusive community,” stated Chatfield.

Bradley, who has directed integrative and experiential programs for Samsung, Nike, and Roc Nation, was drawn to the industry while seeking relief for a health condition. Chatfield, a lifelong sports enthusiast and former marketer for Nike, the WNBA, and clients in the NBA, also became interested in the market while looking for alternatives to manage her sports injuries.

“I saw firsthand how athletes were being offered harmful pain management options. While learning about cannabis, I realized it was imperative that we develop healthier alternatives and find ways to inspire more minorities to get involved with the cannabis industry,” stated Chatfield.

Beyond Dope Girls Consulting, both Bradley and Chatfield have strong entrepreneurial backgrounds. Together, they have applied for an Illinois wholesale infuser license with plans on launching the first minority, women and veteran-owned cannabis brand in the state.
