Over 450 Volunteers Gathering Together This Friday to Make a Difference in Frederick County

United Way of Frederick County (UWFC) will be kicking off their 2019 Day of Action this Friday, October 4 at the Nymeo Field at Harry Grove Stadium with a breakfast hosted by the Frederick Keys. This annual event, during which members of our community members and local businesses come together to serve on critically-needed projects, is sponsored by DARCARS Automotive Group Toyota of Frederick, BGE Home and more, is set to be the biggest Day of Action yet.

“This is our 8th annual Day of Action, and we have noticed a significant growth in participation from both volunteers and nonprofit organizations and agencies this year,” says Shana Knight, United Way of Frederick County’s Marketing and Outreach Manager.

Volunteers will be serving nonprofit/agencies such as: Goodwill, Rescue Mission, Community Living, Community Action Agency, and Habitat for Humanity, Advocates for Homeless Families, Girls on the Run Mid-Maryland, and many more.

Two of the more specific opportunities volunteers will be given will benefit the home of a disabled veteran and the newly purchased salon on Market Street for a United Way Prosperity Account Saver/single mother.

Over the last eight years, hundreds of people in Frederick County have joined UWFC for Day of Action, committing their time and their passion to long-term solutions that benefit all, making Day of Action Frederick County’s largest volunteer event.
