The deadline to apply is July 31st.

The American College of Lifestyle Medicine (ACLM) announced today the availability of two types of annual scholarship opportunities for medical and allied health students and residents interested in furthering their involvement in the field of Lifestyle Medicine.

The first opportunity, the annual Donald A. Pegg Award, is given to outstanding student leaders who commit to advancing the field of Lifestyle Medicine through the establishment of a Lifestyle Medicine Interest Group (LMIG) at their educational institution. This year, 10 student leaders will be awarded $500 each in seed funding for establishing or enhancing an LMIG, as well as funds to register for ACLM’s annual conference (LM2020), to be conducted virtually October 22-25. Students must apply by July 31st to be considered.

The Trainee Leadership Award is a scholarship awarded to ACLM Trainees (residents and students) to cover the cost of annual conference attendance. This year because the conference will be virtual, awardees will be provided full registration. Applicants will be required to verify their enrollment status through their academic institution free of charge, or by visiting the National Student Clearinghouse and paying a $2.50 processing fee. Medical residents will need to submit a signed letter of employment. Scholarships will be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis. Candidates must apply by July 31st to be considered.

ABOUT THE AMERICAN COLLEGE OF LIFESTYLE MEDICINE: ACLM is the medical professional society for those dedicated to the advancement and clinical practice of Lifestyle Medicine as the foundation of a transformed and sustainable health care system. Lifestyle Medicine is the use of a whole food, plant-predominant dietary lifestyle, regular physical activity, restorative sleep, stress management, avoidance of risky substances and positive social connection as a primary therapeutic modality for treatment and reversal of chronic disease.

More than a professional association, ACLM is a galvanized force for change. ACLM addresses the need for quality education and certification, supporting its members in their individual practices and in their collective mission to domestically and globally promote Lifestyle Medicine as the first treatment option, as opposed to a first option of treating symptoms and consequences with expensive, ever increasing quantities of pills and procedures. ACLM members are united in their desire to identify and eradicate the root cause of disease. Learn more at http://www.LifestyleMedicine.org.
