HealthPivots has published a publicly available white paper, Comparison of COVID-19 Dispositions to Circulatory and Respiratory Diagnostic Cohorts, exploring differences in disposition following hospitalization of COVID-19 patients compared to patients from circulatory and respiratory diagnostic groups. The paper is available on the HealthPivots website.
HealthPivots provides data analytics to post-acute providers including hospices, home care agencies, skilled nursing facilities and healthcare systems. “Whether they are hospices, home care agencies or skilled nursing facilities, all of our clients serve patients that may be at high risk for complications and death from COVID-19. Some of our clients have been heavily impacted by this pandemic. This white paper describes the hospital discharge profiles of the first wave of COVID-19 patients,” explains Jay Cushman, CEO of HealthPivots.
The results from analysis of these preliminary data show the COVID-19 patient population utilizing skilled nursing and hospice services at higher rates compared to Medicare patients discharged from hospitals with a circulatory or respiratory diagnosis. Comparison data were obtained from the CMS Chronic Conditions Warehouse in compliance with an executed Data Use Agreement.
