“Protecting the health and safety of our most vulnerable residents is a top priority of the Arizona Department of Health Services, and we know that residents of long term care facilities are at a higher risk for serious complications and death from COVID-19.”

Sonora Quest Laboratories (SQL) and hc1 have announced the expansion of their long-standing strategic partnership with the launch of hc1 CV19 Command Center™ for Sonora Quest, a comprehensive solution that integrates with SQL’s world-class lab testing services to systematically coordinate testing and deliver health insights to combat the spread of COVID-19. SQL is supporting the Arizona Department of Health Services (ADHS) and the State Health Laboratory by performing targeted COVID-19 PCR viral and serology antibody testing to protect residents and healthcare staff across Arizona’s 147 long-term care (LTC) facilities. The hc1 CV19 Command Center is serving a vital role by providing advanced analytics that support effective testing of those most in need. The solution will also generate insight on risk of infection based on the anticipated 25,000 tests SQL will be performing statewide, enabling healthcare and public health leaders to take immediate, proactive steps to contain future COVID-19 infections and save lives.
“Protecting the health and safety of our most vulnerable residents is a top priority of the Arizona Department of Health Services, and we know that residents of long term care facilities are at a higher risk for serious complications and death from COVID-19,” said Dr. Cara Christ, director of the Arizona Department of Health Services. “It is critical that we can test the residents of these facilities and the staff that care for them. With the help of Sonora Quest, Arizona has expanded the capacity to test more people and I appreciate their partnership.”
Sonora Quest and its community allies expect to utilize insight provided by the hc1 CV19 Command Center to implement and assess the impact of testing guidelines including the introduction of serological monoclonal antibody testing for healthcare professionals to determine whether they have been exposed and developed potential immunity to COVID-19. Eventually, the program could be expanded to include family members who are frequent visitors.
“Sonora Quest is uniquely positioned in the marketplace to be the only lab capable of conducting this testing given our current work with the long-term care facilities in the state, our testing capacity and our ability to successfully meet our objective of keeping our healthcare communities informed and well,” said David Dexter, Sonora Quest Laboratories President & CEO. “The hc1 CV19 Command Center will be instrumental to manage and respond to the testing we provide for this population.”
hc1 CV19 Command Center is an integral component of hc1 Workforce Advisor™, a return-to-work solution that enables organizations to effectively implement and monitor systematic lab testing and symptom checking guidelines consistent with national and local best practices. Using a secure, HIPAA compliant process, lab test results are organized and trends are displayed in easy to use dashboards sorted by employee and workplace location.
“Long-term-care and skilled nursing facility residents are extremely vulnerable to severe illness and mortality when they are infected and develop COVID-19,” said Brad Bostic hc1 CEO. “Due to our concern for the health and well-being of these communities, hc1 has partnered with Dave Dexter and his team at Sonora Quest Labs to help save lives. We are grateful for the opportunity to partner with SQL and ADHS to serve this critical need for many of Arizona’s senior residents.”
