Athletic Trainers’ Society of New Jersey Develops COVID-19 Task Force

Athletic trainers are essential to a safe recovery and return to physical activity from COVID-19.

In an effort to address challenges associated with COVID-19 the Athletic Trainers’ Society of New Jersey (ATSNJ) has established the COVID-19 Task Force. The task force consists of athletic trainers from across the state who will consider a wide range of sports-safety initiatives with a focus on ensuring the health and safety of its patients and members. Additionally, it will be tasked with providing an avenue of active listening and response to COVID-19 concerns of its membership.

“It is vitally important to our organization there is open communication with state legislators, government entities, and any other organization which can benefit from the services of New Jersey’s athletic trainers during and after the COVID-19 pandemic” stated ATSNJ President Kevin Briles.

The COVID-19 Task Force will be chaired by Kevin Briles – Athletic Trainer, Delsea Regional High School District, in conjunction with vice chairs Christina Emrich – Athletic Trainer, Red Bank Regional High School and Jessica Springstead – Athletic Trainer, Bergen New Bridge Medical Center. It will also include Charlie Thompson – Head Athletic Trainer, Princeton University, Justin Maher – Physical Therapist/Assistant Athletic Trainer, New York Giants, Ken Cieslak – Athletic Trainer, Teaneck High School, Todd Hirsch – Athletic Trainer, Governor Livingston High School, John Davis – retired Athletic Trainer, National Athletic Trainer Association Hall of Fame Member, Jake McCartney – Athletic Trainer, Toms River East High School, Dave Csillan – Athletic Trainer, Ewing High School, National Athletic Trainer Association Hall of Fame Member, Amanda Kelly – Athletic Trainer, Neptune High School, Rob Baerman – Athletic Trainer, Kingsway High School, Carl Lange – Athletic Trainer, Collingswood High School, and Colleen Grugan – Athletic Trainer, Rowan University. Nick Scaramazza – Athletic Trainer, Southern Regional High School, Allan Parsells – Athletic Trainer, Oratory Preparatory School and Mike Prybicien – Athletic Trainer, Sport Safety International will serve the task force as the Public Relations Consultants.

“Athletic trainers are essential to a safe recovery and return to physical activity from COVID-19. Our members’ expertise and concerns need to be acknowledged to ensure the health and safety of physically active individuals and our members,” added Briles.
