CMEO Addresses Mental Health On Their COVID-19 Hub

“We have depended on CME Outfitters’ online CE programs for the past 5 years to provide evidence-based, timely education and we rely on programs like these now more than ever.” – CMEO Physician learner

The COVID-19 pandemic could lead to a mental health crisis if ignored. CME Outfitters (CMEO) continues to demonstrate why it is a leading provider in addressing critical topics relevant to healthcare providers and their patients around the world. “We were hearing from our CMEO clinicians that they are concerned about the mental health of not only their patients, but also their colleagues and friends who as healthcare workers are on the front lines of the COVID-19 pandemic. It is a topic few people are talking about so we wanted to start the discussion and share insights and strategies from leaders in the field,” commented Jan Perez, CMEO Managing Partner.

CMEO recently added video interviews with experts in the field to their COVID-19 hub and will be adding more content, topics and resources every week. Recent interviews feature Charles Nemeroff, MD, PhD, Chairman of the Department of Psychiatry and Director of the Institute of Early Life Adversity Research at the Mulva Clinic for the Neurosciences, Dell Medical School at the University of Texas in Austin, Texas. Dr. Nemeroff is also a member of the scientific advisory board for the American Foundation of Suicide Prevention (AFSP) and is the President Elect of the Anxiety and Depression Association of America (ADAA).

Visit the CMEO COVID hub as Dr. Nemeroff discusses why we may see an increase in mood and anxiety disorders in patients and healthcare providers, tips for recognizing symptoms, how to address patient concerns, and a call to action for healthcare providers to be aware of the mental health needs of their patients, colleagues, and themselves during this difficult time.

“We have been in the business of online virtual learning for over 10 years and addressing the stigma of mental health is a passion of our company. We listen carefully to our learners and are working to ensure that our topics and our instructional design meet the varied needs of our audience. Our team knows how to engage audiences and they recognize the need to make sure our content is grounded in evidence and also very translational to clinical practice. We want to thank of all our faculty who are so graciously taking time to address very current topics in this challenging time,” said Sharon Tordoff, CMEO Managing Partner.

Virtual education requires more than just putting it online.

On behalf of the entire CMEO team, we send our sincere gratitude to all of the healthcare providers caring for patients under these difficult circumstances. Your commitment and dedication is sincerely appreciated and admired. Thank you!
