Just in time for National Pet Week, Rescue Dog Wines founders Blair and Laura Lott are announcing a partnership with national animal welfare organization Best Friends Animal Society.
Rescue Dog Wines has pledged $25,000 as their minimum commitment to Best Friends to help their mission of ending the killing of dogs and cats in America’s shelters.
“Best Friends’ mission aligns perfectly with our goals,” explains Blair Lott. “Rescue Dog Wines gives away half of our profits to support dog rescue programs, and now with the reach of Best Friends, we’ll be able to be even more effective, he added.
“Best Friends is delighted to launch this collaboration,” Eric Rayvid, public relations director, Best Friends Animal Society. “We know we won’t be able to achieve our mission without critical funds from partners like Rescue Dog Wines.
The first element of the collaboration is special pricing that Rescue Dog Wines is offering to customers who learn about the winery through Best Friends. When buying wines on the website, purchasers can use “BESTFRIENDS2020” code and that will generate a promotional price of a 10% discount and a donation of 10% of the purchase price to Best Friends.
All of Rescue Dog’s wines are sourced from the Lodi, California appellation; the grape growing and winemaking follow “Lodi Rules,” a set of guidelines oriented to sensitive farming and superlative wine quality. The winery’s current releases are 2018 Rosé, Beloved Mixed Red Wine Blend (NV), Predominantly Poodle Sauvignon Blanc (NV), Bubbly Boxer Sparkling Rosé (NV) and Bubbly Boxer Demi-Sec Sparkling Wine (NV). The wines can be purchased from the winery’s website and are also in limited distribution in some cities in the U.S.
Rescue Dog Wines was founded in 2017 by Blair and Laura Lott. The Lotts participate in events like National Dog Day; last year the winery did a joint program with Hotel Milo in Santa Barbara, California, where dogs were welcomed with treats and gifts, and owners with choices of the Rescue Dog wines. “This type of collaborative effort brings us great joy,” comment Blair and Laura Lott, who have participated in similar events including the Sacramento SPCA Fall Gala, Friends of the Alameda (California) Animal Shelter, the Lodi PALS (People Assisting Lodi Shelter), Los Angeles Found Animals Foundation, The Rescue Dog Runway Show in Los Angeles and the English Bulldog Rescue Bully Ball in Atlanta.
National Pet Week, organized by the American Veterinary Medical Association, takes place May 3-9, 2020.
