Crain’s Chicago Business features Lisa Pickell as one of Chicago’s Notable Women in Construction and Design

I’m fortunate that I not only get to work in the business I love, but that I’m in a position to help make it even better.

Lisa appears along with other 48 other nominees in the May 2020 issue of Crain’s Chicago Business. (https://www.chicagobusiness.com/awards/crains-2020-notable-women-construction-and-design)

Lisa was nominated for her impact on the industry as well as for advancing the roles of women in construction. Her nomination calls attention to Lisa’s efforts to raise the bar on customer experience throughout design-build projects, as well as her focus on developing the next generation of construction professionals.

The Orren Pickell Building Group is notable for being about one-third female in an industry that remains about 90% male, especially among management and executives. Lisa personally mentors many of these women, and the firm pays for continuing education to help young staff—female and male—find their future in the industry. Yet Lisa still finds time to devote to her own professional development and the charitable organizations she loves.

“I’m thrilled that this nomination calls attention to the important work we’re doing on behalf of women and the whole industry,” offered Lisa Pickell. “I’m fortunate that I not only get to work in the business I love, but that I’m in a position to help make it even better.”

Orren Pickell Building Group has been a leading design-build firm on Chicago’s North Shore for nearly 50 years (https://www.pickellbuilders.com/about-us/). The company provides custom home architecture and construction throughout Illinois, Wisconsin, Indiana and Michigan.
