“Tenth Ward has always been an active part of the community,” said Tenth Ward owner Monica Pearce. “We found a way to give back without overextending ourselves as we also need to focus on keeping the lights on during this trying time.”

On April 2, 2020, Tenth Ward began donating and distributing 35% ABV ethanol-based surface disinfectant to medical facilities and other essential businesses. On March 13, Tenth Ward began by offering free bottles of hand sanitizer to customers as needed due to the rising concerns about COVID-19. The company has now switched gears to address the additional need for surface disinfectant. In order to do this, Tenth Ward is partnering with other alcohol producers to distill products (outdated beer or spent wine for example) that otherwise might go to waste and turning it into ethanol.
The surface disinfectant is odorless, comes in a half-gallon jar and can be used as-is or transferred to a spray bottle. The disinfectant can be used to clean surfaces that come into continual contact with people. The need for a steady supply of surface disinfectant has been extensive – from counters in medical facilities to steering wheels in police cars and even cameras and microphones for news crews. Tenth Ward has donated and distributed supplies to nursing homes, news reporting stations, police departments, utility services, medical labs, hospitals, public departments and more. Tenth Ward would like to maintain the privacy of these entities as many are operating on limited resources and potentially under stress. Tenth Ward is also distributing 90% ABV ethanol on a limited basis to a number of pharmacies that have the capability to produce hand sanitizer.
Tenth Ward is still open on a limited basis offering their usual spirits and mixers and now cocktail kits and cocktails to go. Customers can order online for curbside pick up or delivery here https://tenth-ward-to-go.square.site/.
