Elise Nye, Entrepreneur and Social Impact Leader, Joins Communication Service for the Deaf’s Board of Directors

Communication Service for the Deaf, Inc. (CSD) announced today that Elise Nye, entrepreneur and social impact leader, has been named to CSD’s Board of Directors. Nye begins her three-year term July 1, 2020. CSD is the world’s largest deaf-led social impact organization.

Based in Santa Fe, New Mexico, Nye is a successful entrepreneur who led large-scale projects in healthcare administration for more than 20 years with Seattle-based Group Health Cooperative and Albuquerque-based Presbyterian Healthcare Services. Currently she is the owner of Santa Fe Weaving Gallery, an art-to-wear retail boutique featuring artisanal clothing and accessories for women.

“I am very pleased to welcome Elise to our Board of Directors,” said Chris Soukup, CEO of CSD. “As a successful deaf woman business owner and someone with extensive leadership in the healthcare sector, Elise brings a plethora of knowledge and experiences that will be invaluable to the important work of our board and organization.”

Ms. Nye has served on various boards, including the Abused Deaf Women Advocacy Services Board, where she helped move the organization through a very successful capital campaign to establish the nation’s first housing for Deaf and DeafBlind women and children. She earned a master’s degree in organizational leadership from Gonzaga University and a bachelor’s degree in sociology from Gallaudet University. Nye lives in Santa Fe with her three boys where they enjoy the great outdoors, climbing calderas and the 283 days of sun throughout the year.

Nye joins eight CSD board members responsible for the overall strategic direction of the organization: Philip Bravin, Marwan Elrakabawy, Rogelio Fernandez, Jr., Bruce Hodek, Danny Lacey, Khadijat Rashid, Mark Seeger and Marilyn Jean Smith.
