AutismOne Speaker Unveils Shocking Cost of Autism in New Study

…if prevalence continues to increase at the past rate, the cost for the U.S. will grow to nearly $15 trillion.

AutismOne announced that AutismOne 2020 Conference speaker Dr. Janet Cakir will reveal the staggering costs of autism as shown in a new study.

Autism is associated with approximately $3.6 million in lifetime social costs arising from additional health, education, and care needs and lowered or absent earnings. Diagnoses between 1990 and 2019 in the U.S. are associated with $7 trillion in lifetime social costs. By 2029, if prevalence remains the same, the cost will grow to $11.5 trillion, and if prevalence continues to increase at the past rate, the cost for the U.S. will grow to nearly $15 trillion.

Said Dr. Cakir, “It’s an honor to present this work at AutismOne!” Dr. Cakir said this study will be presented in a conference setting for the first time at the AutismOne 2020 Conference.

The AutismOne 2020 Conference will be held at the beautiful Loews Chicago O’Hare Hotel, which is just ten minutes from Chicago O’Hare International Airport. The conference will be held Wednesday, May 20 through Sunday, May 24.

Dr. Cakir’s presentation will be held on Saturday, May 23.
