“As Co-Founder & Vistafolia Certified Installer Trainer, 13 years of experience in artificial greening manufacturing, I can assuredly say this planter solution is changing the lives and businesses of people in and new, exciting way.” – Jackie Wiener, Principal UpScapers

A new offering by UpScapers has made one brand of faux plants a viable option for those with chronic illness, elderly or people or organizations who simply don’t have the budget or time to care for their potted plants.

Studies have long shown that faux foliage provides many of the same biophilic benefits as live plants. New studies even point to these replica solutions to greenery having less of an overall carbon footprint than their living counterparts, but until now there has not been a viable, realistic, all-weather solution for faux plants.

UpScaper’s is changing this with the introduction of the Flawless Fauxlage (TM) an all-weather potted plant solution with the power of Vistafolia’s proven plant technologies.

In addition to their superior UV performance, freeze/thaw performance and realism, Flawless Fauxliage artificial plants also come in a variety of shapes, styles and colors, giving people the opportunity to customize their planters in ways that aren’t possible with real plants.

Flawless Fauxliage provides plant collections aimed at mood outcomes based on color science or al-a-cart options for homeowners and also provides robust custom solutions for, expansive commercial projects.

“As Co-Founder & Vistafolia Certified Installer Trainer, 13 years of experience in artificial greening manufacturing, I can assuredly say this planter solution is changing the lives and businesses of people in and new, exciting way – and we are energized and delighted by the response we get on every project.” – Jackie Wiener, Principal UpScapers

S. Military Academy at West Point and The New York Times Yoga Forum with Dean Ornish MD. Perlmutter’s 45 years of personal study and teaching of Yoga Science and Psychology have prepared him to provide medical professionals a complete set of practical tools to relieve physician stress and burnout, enhance problem solving capacities, and achieve healthier life-work balance.

Acknowledging the current crisis in medicine, conference director Leonard Perlmutter states that, “Each of us is the architect of our own lives, and we determine our destiny. Now, physicians and other healthcare providers have the opportunity to learn clinically proven strategies to reduce their burnout and stress, while increasing their compassion and creativity, and strengthening their decision-making capacity.”

Alucio™ Further Leverages AI in Its Beacon Scientific Exchange Platform to Elevate Content Version Control

News Image

“This new capability makes Beacon’s custom presentation builder even smarter and more effective to use,” explained Lauren Keyes, Director of Product Management. “MSLs can now spend more time focusing on their scientific engagements without the burden of manual content version management.”

Alucio™, a fast-growing provider of cloud-based software for the life sciences industry, today announced a new enhancement to its Beacon scientific exchange platform to better manage source content changes that impact custom presentations created by users. Beacon is a modern content activation and Healthcare Professional (HCP) engagement platform built specifically for Medical Science Liaisons (MSLs), Medical Affairs professionals, and Market Access teams.

Many MSLs currently utilize Beacon’s custom presentation builder feature to combine approved slides and other pieces of content, including rich media, to tailor a personalized scientific exchange to meet individual customer needs. To further enhance this feature, Beacon can now auto-detect slide content deviations from source files using visual comparison technology driven by Artificial Intelligence (AI). Beacon then automatically applies source file content updates to the impacted slides, eliminating work for MSLs and reducing the chance for compliance errors.

This unique capability in the platform helps to directly manage content version differences. This offers both efficiency and accuracy for content administrators and field medical teams.

Additionally, the comparison technology is easily configurable to adhere to each life science company’s compliance policies in terms of timing preferences, notification approaches, and expected actions by their MSLs. All content changes and customer interactions are tracked using robust reporting and analytics in Beacon to inform administrators of applicable oversight and insight-generation needs.

“MSLs seek to deepen HCP relationships through tailored, personalized scientific exchanges that are also compliant. This new capability makes Beacon’s custom presentation builder even smarter and more effective to use,” explained Lauren Keyes, Director of Product Management. “MSLs can now spend more time focusing on their scientific engagements without the burden of manual content version management.”

Prevent Blindness Declares Fourth Annual Inherited Retinal Disease (IRD) Genetic Testing Week as May 15-21

Prevent Blindness declares May 15-21, 2023, as the 4th annual “Inherited Retinal Disease (IRD) Genetic Testing Week.”

“By providing IRD patients with the resources they need to learn more about their diagnosis, as well as how gene therapy may benefit them, we are working to continue to preserve vision,” said Jeff Todd, president and CEO of Prevent Blindness.

Prevent Blindness, the nation’s leading nonprofit eye health and safety organization, has declared May 15-21, 2023, as the fourth annual “Inherited Retinal Disease (IRD) Genetic Testing Week.” An IRD is a genetic disorder that can cause severe vision loss or even blindness. IRDs include Retinitis Pigmentosa (RP), Choroideremia, Stargardt Disease, Cone-rod Dystrophy and Leber Congenital Amaurosis. Early detection and treatment can help to prevent significant vision loss. Genetic testing is now available to identify many gene variants that cause IRDs.

To help raise awareness and educate the public on IRDs and the importance of genetic testing, Prevent Blindness offers a dedicated web resource, PreventBlindness.org/inherited-retinal-diseases. Educational videos, shareable social media graphics, and fact sheets in English and Spanish are available.

On Tuesday, May 16, at 3 p.m. ET, the National Center for Children’s Vision and Eye Health at Prevent Blindness will be hosting the free webinar, “Inherited Retinal Diseases and Children’s Vision and Eye Health: What You Need to Know.” This webinar is designed for a wide audience, including parents and families, school nurses, Head Start and other early childhood program staff, early intervention and special education professionals, teachers of students with visual Impairments, state vision rehabilitation staff, parent and patient support organizations, primary care providers, and eye care providers.

Panelists to include:

  • Donna Hunt Hodge, MBA, Director of Marketing, Retina Gene Therapies, Janssen Pharmaceutical Companies of Johnson & Johnson
  • Arlene Drack, MD, Ronald Keech Professor of Pediatric Genetic Eye Disease Research, Director, Electrophysiology, Institute for Vision Research, Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences, University of Iowa
  • Sherry Day, OD, FAAO, Clinical Assistant Professor, Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences Section Leader, Vision Care, Contact Lens and Low Vision Rehabilitation, University of Michigan
  • Kari Branham, MS, CGC, Clinical Assistant Professor, Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences and Genetic Counselor, Inherited Retinal Dystrophy Clinic, University of Michigan
  • Mariagrazia Buttitta, MA, NCC, Patient with Cone Dystrophy, and national Certified Counselor, author, motivational speaker, career coach, wellness and health enthusiast, and mental health and disability advocate

Additionally, as part of the Prevent Blindness Focus on Eye Health Expert Series, Alina V. Dumitrescu, M.D., Clinical Associate Professor of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences, Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus, Inherited Eye Disease at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, is featured in the episode, “Inherited Retinal Disorders and Genetic Testing.”

Also, two graduates of the ASPECT (Advocacy, Support, Perspective, Empowerment, Communication and Training) Patient Engagement Program at Prevent Blindness, share their perspective and experience of living with an IRD. Brenda Niccum, who has RP, and Mariagrazia Buttitta, who has cone dystrophy, discuss their conditions as well as ways they manage their vision impairments. Founded in 2020, ASPECT aims to equip participants with knowledge, skills, and confidence to become advocates for vision and eye health at the individual, peer-to-peer, community, state and/or national levels.

The 2023 IRD Genetic Testing Week at Prevent Blindness is supported by Janssen Pharmaceutical Companies of Johnson & Johnson and Spark® Therapeutics, a fully integrated company and member of the Roche group. Janssen offers the EyesOnGenes resource, a comprehensive website for patients and health care providers with information on IRDs, genetic testing benefits, community resources and more. Spark offers educational resources on IRDs and genetic testing through the Eye Want 2 Know® website.

Prevent Blindness strongly encourages patients to talk to their eye doctors about genetic testing. Having the genetic diagnosis will help to identify potential treatment options for patients, inform them about the potential risk of disease to other family members and identify the potential risk to other organs in the patient’s body that may be affected.

For those interested in participating, the Prevent Blindness Living Well With Low Vision resource has a dedicated listing of clinical trials for diseases of the retina. The newly redesigned site also provides free resources for low vision patients, including the “Self-help Guide to Non-Visual Skills,” and care partners, such as “The ABCs of Caring for the Visually Impaired.”

“The many recent advancements in treatment for eye diseases have been truly remarkable,” said Jeff Todd, president and CEO of Prevent Blindness. “By providing IRD patients with the resources they need to learn more about their diagnosis, as well as how gene therapy may benefit them, we are working to continue to preserve vision.”
