The Global Wellness Summit (GWS), the most prestigious conference on the $4.4 trillion business of wellness, today announced the three student finalists selected to present their wellness business concepts to a panel of “Wellness Sharks” at the 2022 GWS in Tel Aviv, October 31 – November 3. The finalists, who were selected in a blind review of submissions from all over the world, earned the opportunity to pitch their concepts in person in front of a live audience of wellness thought leaders for a total of $10,000 in prize money.
“The Shark Tank of Wellness competition furthers our mission of supporting and encouraging future generations of wellness leaders,” said Nancy Davis, chief creative officer and executive director of the GWS. “Thanks to our sponsors, the finalists will be fully immersed into the Summit experience, learning from a robust 3-day agenda which will explore the future of the $4.4 trillion wellness economy, while experiencing inspirational moments, plenty of wellness activities and untold networking opportunities.”
This year’s “Shark Tank of Wellness” finalists include two students from Georgia’s Savannah College of Art and Design: Kay McCalla and Anvisha Vora; while the third finalist, David Austin Jones, hails from New York’s Cornell University.
The 2022 “Wellness Sharks” who will grill the finalists “shark-tank style” include investors and executives from an array of wellness industries:
- Amir Alroy, Co-Founder of Welltech Ventures (Israel)
- Aldina Duarte Ramos, Global Director of Well-Being at ACCOR (France)
- Karen Campbell, business development consultant at Chiva-Som (Thailand)
- Frank Pitsikalis, Vice President, Strategy at Agilysys (US); and founder of ResortSuite (Canada)
Projects will be judged on their viability and can serve any aspect of the wellness industry, including architecture/design, beauty, education, fitness, hospitality, medicine, nutrition, real estate, spa, technology, workplace wellness and tourism.
“I feel privileged to be participating as one of the Wellness Sharks for the seventh annual Shark Tank-style student competition,” said Aldina Duarte Ramos, ACCOR’s Global Director of Well-Being. “Innovation is a mindset and ACCOR is always keen to support programs and initiatives that challenge the status quo and offer opportunities for the next generation of wellness leaders.”
