For McGowan, COVID sets the score LOVE LOVE

“As I reflected on the impacts of COVID, I started to realize though I loved my job, customers and co-workers, I loved other things too and wanted to spend more time doing them.”

After nearly 30 years with H2I Group, formerly known as HaldemanHomme, Senior Sales Representative Tim McGowan steps down to take early retirement. “As I reflected on the impacts of COVID, I started to realize though I loved my job, customers and co-workers, I loved other things too and wanted to spend more time doing them.” McGowan joins the over two million America’s projected by The New School’s Schwartz Center for Economic Policy Analysis to retire ahead of schedule. For McGowan, who has always been a trailblazer, he sees himself not as joining the COVID trend but rather, returning full circle to his original passion.

After graduating from St. John College in 1984, McGowan planned to be a teacher. He has a gift for patience and a knack for explaining complicated things, simply. But the classroom proved to be too small for his fiery red hair, outgoing personality and love of adventure. “I ran into a friend at the old Gopher stadium who mentioned there was an opening here. I was really interested in sports and education sales. I thought I’d give it a try for a while.” Time seems to fly when you are exceptional at something and before he knew it, McGowan realized he was a set for life, literally.

McGowan has been able to watch his ESOP nest egg grow exponentially faster than a traditional 401K. The ESOP benefits were one of the many perks of longevity. “Without the ESOP I would not only still be working, I’d be grinding.” He says with his signature McGowan grin, “This company has provided me with a great a feeling and lifestyle. I grew up here really. I was married, adopted my two wonderful children, was able to travel. I stayed so long because I really found a home here. I am so grateful.” McGowan will stay on as a consultant to train his replacements and help transition his customers. When he is not staying in touch he will be returning to where he once began, in a pursuit to teach. You will likely find him on the tennis courts around his hometown of Edina Minnesota, teaching kids or volunteering his time with Special Olympics. “Life has given me a lot, and it’s now time for me to give back.”

H2I Group is the nation’s leader in design & build for medical projects across hospitals & clinics and entertainment venues including stadiums, resorts & casinos. The company excels in creating safe welcoming spaces featuring state-of-the art technology and finely crafted architectural woodwork. In 2021 H2I Group came under the leadership of President Dan Moran. He, along with over 300 nationwide employees, strive to uphold LEGACY values dating back to 1924.

How Rodent and NHP Models Support COVID-19 Treatment Development, Upcoming Webinar Hosted by Xtalks

Choosing the right animal model might be challenging, based on various modes of action and/or timing of action of the tested molecules.

Preclinical validation of an extended portfolio of prophylactic and therapeutic options against SARS-CoV-2-induced pathologies remains a major challenge for the scientific and medical community. In this context, the high value of several animal models of SARS-CoV-2 infection has been demonstrated to screen a variety of products, such as vaccines, biologics or small molecules (repurposed drugs and new chemical entities). Still, choosing the right animal model might be challenging, based on various modes of action and/or timing of action of the tested molecules.

In this webinar, our guest presenters will discuss several case studies to illustrate the features of rodent (golden Syrian hamster, human AC2-expressing mice) and nonhuman primate (NHP) models, which provide different pathology settings (moderate vs. severe COVID-19). These examples will help the attendees in their decision process regarding valid COVID-19 model selection. In all of these experimental models, prophylactic and therapeutic strategies can be evaluated, depending on each product-specific mode of action.

Register for this webinar to learn how to select the most appropriate COVID-19 animal model for preclinical studies.

LifeScience Technologies, LLC Files Lawsuit Against St. Louis-Based Mercy Health and Mercy Virtual, and San Francisco-Based Myia Health

m.Care, the Virtual Care Telehealth Platform Powering Many of the Nation's Leading Healthcare Systems

m.Care, the Virtual Care Telehealth Platform Powering Many of the Nation’s Leading Healthcare Systems

This is the first time in our 30 years that we have needed to enforce our contracts and protected work product via a lawsuit. We will, however, always protect our company and our clients against willful and damaging misconduct.

LifeScience Technologies (LST), developer of m.Care®, one of the leading telehealth and remote patient engagement platforms in the U.S., announced today it filed a lawsuit against St. Louis-based Mercy Health (http://www.mercy.net), Mercy Virtual (http://www.mercyvirtual.net), and San Francisco-based Myia Health (http://www.myiahealth.com).

The case number is: 4:21-CV-01279-SEP. The case is LifeScience Technologies, LLC v. Mercy Health, et al.¸ and is currently pending in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Missouri, Eastern Division.

Details of the Claim

As alleged in the complaint, the lawsuit details breach of contract, trade secret misappropriation, unjust enrichment, unfair competition, civil conspiracy, and willful and deliberate disclosure of LST’s trade secrets and confidential information by Mercy Health and Mercy Virtual to a third-party competitor, Myia Health, for purposes of developing a competing virtual care software platform.

Comment From LifeScience Technologies

“As adoption of the m.Care® platform continues to grow at an accelerated rate within healthcare and related markets, we are disappointed we have to use the legal system to protect our existing contracts, non-disclosure agreements, and intellectual property rights, especially with a client with whom we have worked closely for more than seven years,” said LifeScience Technologies President Steve Hendrix.

“Having worked in the healthcare technology space for over 30 years, our management team is proud of both the solutions we have created to help care teams and patients, and the high level of integrity that has defined our companies. This is the first time, in those 30 years, that we have needed to enforce our contracts and protected work product via a lawsuit. We will, however, always protect our company and our clients against willful and damaging misconduct,” Hendrix continued.

“Our software and processes are, and remain, highly secure,” Hendrix stated. “One of the reasons for our strong security, as evidenced by our recently completed SOC 2 Type 2 + HIPAA assessment, is the solid, non-disclosure agreement and software license agreements in place with each of our clients. If a contract breach occurs, we have a responsibility, and indeed a requirement, to pursue an injunction and relief.”

m.Care®

m.Care® powers numerous visionary, forward-thinking hospitals, healthcare systems and other organizations focused on patient, member, or employee health and well-being.

The need existed to create an innovative, leading-edge technology that was very advanced ’under the covers,’ but very simple and intuitive for care teams and patients to use. m.Care® provides a highly configurable and easy-to-use platform to meet its clients’ specific needs and clinical protocols, enabling predictive and proactive care. Highlighted outcomes from our clients:

  • Patient satisfaction rate is very high, over 98%
  • Documented cost savings for the challenging critical care at-home populations, over 32%
  • Reductions in readmissions, over 50%

Summary

The lawsuit claims that Mercy gave Myia access to gain knowledge and know-how regarding LST’s m.Care® software, acquired a $5 Million ownership interest in Myia, then replaced LST’s Software with Myia’s derivative software in the Mercy vEngagement program.

Professional Counselor Publishes Eye-Opening Book Identifying “Hidden Abusers: Charmers and Con Artists”

“Hidden Abusers: Charmers and Con Artists”
By Sandra Scott

My mission is to provide a guide for individuals who have gone through this kind of abuse to know that they aren’t alone and that there are ways to move from victim to survivor to thriving as a loved child of God.

If you are bruised, bleeding or dead, it is obvious to anyone that you are being, or have been, physically abused. But, what about the hidden abuses of emotional, psychological, verbal, financial, intimidation, bullying, manipulation, and stalking? How do you recognize and address those? How do you get others to see, understand and advocate for you? Licensed professional counselor and author Sandra Scott’s new book, “Hidden Abusers: Charmers and Con Artists” educates readers on how to discern signs and threats of abuse within a relationship. The book shines a light on the issues of abuse, especially the hidden ones that are difficult to see.

The book focuses primarily on the Charmer. It provides various case studies of these dangerous abusers. From fictional characters, such as Scarlett O’Hara, to real-life high-profile individuals, like O.J. Simpson, the author gives insight into this kind of abuse. Scott not only provides real anecdotes to educate the reader on the different signs to recognize in relationships, but she also provides valuable resources. Her book draws from the Twelve-Step Program and Bible to help victims recover from this trauma with the help of the Lord.

“I hope my book will help victims see that they are victims,” said Scott. “I want them to know that they did not cause their abuse, they couldn’t control it, and they can’t cure it. My mission is to provide a guide for individuals who have gone through this kind of abuse to know that they aren’t alone and that there are ways to move from victim to survivor to thriving as a loved child of God. God loves His daughters as much as He loves His sons, and I don’t believe He approves of His sons mistreating His daughters or vice versa.”

“Hidden Abusers” provides a recovery plan for those who have experienced this kind of abuse in a relationship. Scott has witnessed many stories of abuse in her 30 years of private practice, which includes 15 years working with adult singles ministry. She hopes her book will be a helpful resource, especially for church leaders in dealing with abuse in their congregations.

By the end of the book, readers will recognize and understand this form of hidden abuse. Ultimately, “Hidden Abusers” will help victims heal and provide them with steps to recovery and wholeness.
