Coming soon…..

New technology hits the market, fully digital auscultation with exceptional sound quality and usability

Rudolf Riester and eMurmur® are pleased to announce that they have collaborated to create a new standard in heart and lung auscultation.

Riester’s Ri-sonic® digital stethoscope provides crisp, clear sound quality. Coupled with the power of eMurmur’s incredible platform for digital auscultation, it allows caregivers to obtain clear live sounds and recordings, creating a complete solution for listening to the body in-person and remotely like never before.

“We are very pleased to be collaborating with eMurmur on such an exciting project. Ri-sonic and eMurmur enable remote auscultation and subsequent diagnosis with state-of-the-art quality sound for heart, lungs and bowel. We are confident that this will help millions of patients to receive timely and professional advice and will empower MCPs to monitor the development of their patients over time to better treat and care for them. Telemedicine is expanding its remits beyond the current context of a global pandemic. Ri-Sonic and eMurmur bring a new degree of precision and accuracy in primary care for better screening and diagnosis of heart and lung disease. And more importantly, done in real time,” says Irina Zhdanova, Managing Director at Rudolf Riester.

The ability to perform remote auscultation during telehealth visits between the patient and caregiver adds a new dimension to the treatment pathway. Patients can get faster access to expert assessments while removing the burden of travel and time off work. Providers can reduce unnecessary referrals and get patients the care they require faster.

“By building the eMurmur platform, we are bringing auscultation into the 21st century. Going digital, creating heart and lung sound records, and enabling tele-auscultation and e-consultations are game changing milestones in auscultation, especially with the challenges the pandemic has presented to providers,” explained Andreas Schriefl, PhD, founder and CEO of eMurmur. “We at eMurmur are experts in driving and delivering such innovation, Riester is a trusted industry leader in building high-quality stethoscopes with decades of experience and a global reach. It is a proud moment for eMurmur to have Rudolf Riester as a partner and ultimately patients will benefit from the improved patient care our solution delivers.”

The collaboration has allowed the expertise in Riester’s 60 years of producing high quality stethoscopes to be coupled with the entrepreneurial excellence and know-how of the team at eMurmur.

The outcome – innovation and expertise create a new dawn for auscultation.

An Animal Behaviorist’s Tips for Raising a Happy, Healthy Canine

Dr. Kristyn Echterling-Savage with dog

Dr. Kristyn Echterling-Savage uses her unique background in behavioral science to create specialized pet-training plans for dogs, cats, and other animals.

Our main goal has always been to help animals and to help people. The most rewarding part of our journey has been to see positive changes in dog behavior, which, in some instances, can be lifesaving.

Although it requires a lot of work, owning a pet can be one of life’s most rewarding experiences. However, the pet-owner dynamic can become incredibly strained when animals start to exhibit problematic behavior. As one of only 53 Certified Applied Animal Behaviorists in the U.S. and the founder of Beyond the Dog, Dr. Kristyn Echterling-Savage offers a few tips for pet owners who wish to foster fulfilling relationships with happy, healthy dogs.

  • Get Inside—or Rather, Outside—the Animal Mind

Along with her animal behavior certification, Dr. Echterling-Savage’s background in Behavioral Psychology allows her to view animal behavior through a unique lens. “People think that if you raise a dog ‘right,’ they won’t ever engage in aggressive or problematic behavior, but this isn’t true,” she states. “Our pets’ behaviors are constantly being reinforced by their environment, not just by their owners’ actions.” Acknowledging that external factors can significantly affect an animal’s behavior is the first step to understanding why they might be behaving in a particular manner.

  • Socialize at an Early Age

Teaching a dog appropriate skills and behaviors from an early age can make all the difference in their well-being. According to Dr. Echterling-Savage, pet owners should properly socialize their dogs by exposing them to a large volume of social interactions when they’re young. By experiencing positive human interactions when they’re puppies, dogs can learn to feel more comfortable around people. Living indoors with their family is a great opportunity for dogs to interact with caring, familiar people in a safe environment over a prolonged period.

  • Create a Behavior-Reward Economy

Making dogs work for their meals is an effective way to teach compliance and reinforce good behavior. According to Dr. Echterling-Savage, pet owners can make learning fun for their dogs by providing an appropriate reward in exchange for the desired behavior. As a result, dogs will become accustomed to the idea of earning a reward for performing a task, which is ultimately better than giving them a “free bowl.”

  • Encourage Regular Exercise

Like people, dogs need regular exercise to stay mentally and physically healthy. Pet owners can help their dogs burn off extra energy by taking walks together or by running around in the backyard. Active dogs with capable bodies can do so much more with their owners, and they’ll age more gracefully with fewer health issues.

There’s a reason dogs are considered man’s best friend. With Dr. Echterling-Savage’s unique insight on animal behavior, pet-owners can cultivate healthier and more satisfying relationships with their canine companions.

Beyond the Dog provides behavior-focused pet training for dogs, cats, birds, and other animals. Drawing on the research and experiences of co-founders Dr. Kristyn Echterling-Savage and Sean Savage, the company’s certified pet trainers use highly refined behavioral techniques to correct problematic behavior and empower pet-owners to develop stronger bonds with their animals. Since starting in Kansas City in 2005, Beyond the Dog has expanded to six different cities in three different states. The company’s Houston location can be reached via phone at (713) 416-6102, or by email at contact@beyondthedogtraining.com.

A Radical New Understanding of the Mind-Body Connection

Samuel Mann headshot

Arlene Feinblatt, a New York State Psychologist who worked with Dr. John E. Sarno, professor, author and innovative leader in the field of Mind-body Medicine, commented: Dr. Samuel Mann is one of the few MDs who has always administered care with the total human being in mind.

Dr. Samuel Mann, a physician, researcher and prominent hypertension specialist from New York Presbyterian Hospital / Weill Cornell Medical College announces the planned release of his newest book “Hidden Within Us. A Radical New Understanding of the Mind-Body Connection”. The book highlights a different understanding of the link between our emotions and our physical health and how this view can lead to new treatment solutions.

Dr. Mann’s book aims to convey to patients, physicians and psychologists the powerful, yet rarely considered link between emotions that are hidden from our awareness, often related to a history of trauma, abuse or overwhelming stress, and many inadequately explained chronic medical conditions such as hypertension, chronic fatigue syndrome, inflammatory bowel disease, migraine, autoimmune diseases, and possibly many others.

In his new book Dr. Mann lays out compelling evidence and case histories that vividly convey to readers how the repression of potentially overwhelming emotions is an almost completely overlooked key component of both our emotional resilience as well as the mind/body connection. More importantly, he highlights how this understanding can empower readers to seek healing pathways or pharmacologic approaches that would have not been considered.

Dr. Mann comments: “My findings demonstrate the long-lasting effects on our physical health of emotions that are hidden from our awareness, and offer an explanation for many patients who are suffering from commonly encountered medical conditions whose cause has remained an enigma. I am confident that many readers will see themselves in the book and that the book will trigger insights that can either lead to rapid improvement or to more effective choices in their treatment. It will offer a fascinating read, and open the door to readers, physicians and psychologists to a radically different understanding of the mind-body connection, and its important treatment implications.”

Arlene Feinblatt, a New York State Psychologist who worked with Dr. John E. Sarno, professor, author and innovative leader in the field of Mind-body Medicine, commented: “Dr. Samuel Mann is one of the few MDs who has always administered care with the total human being in mind. He is acutely aware of the psychological factors affecting medical conditions and the interactions of mind and body on the health of the individual. This book reflects his expert medical perspective about the mind/body connection and its ramifications for health and well being. It is a joy to read particularly with the case histories included which clarify his unique insights.”

The book will be available on Amazon in February 2022. To pre-order and sign up for Dr Samuel Mann’s upcoming talk, visit https://www.drsamuelmann.com. Trends, insights and scientific studies are showcased on his social media channels.

Making the Season Bright for Family Caregivers

News Image

‘Tis the season for joy and celebration, particularly this year as many of us look to once again reunite with friends and family. The holidays are a time to express gratitude for those in our lives, and family caregivers are an important group to recognize and celebrate. These individuals give so much of themselves every day to ensure their loved ones are cared for and supported. And while they serve in a role that calls for putting the needs of others before their own, the holiday season offers an opportunity to let them know you are thinking of them and appreciate the remarkable work they do.

You likely know someone who serves in this important role, whether a family member, someone at work or in the community. In fact, according to AARP, an estimated 53 million Americans are providing unpaid care for relatives and friends – 61% of whom also juggle outside employment. Furthermore, family caregivers provide an average of 23.7 hours of care each week. This number goes up substantially for those whose care recipients live with them (37.4 hours per week), making caregiving the equivalent to a full-time job.

“Many caregivers find reward in helping their loved ones, doing so with compassion and joy. But caregiving is an extremely demanding role,” said Lakelyn Hogan, Ph.D., gerontologist and caregiver advocate at Home Instead. “While every day is an opportunity to celebrate them, the holidays are a great reminder to recognize their hard work by showing them support and appreciation in return.”

Many caregivers aren’t looking for big, expensive gifts. They are generous givers – of their time, energy and love – which is what makes their role all the more meaningful. A small gift or act of kindness can go a long way in making a caregiver feel appreciated.

To learn more about how we can give back to those who are constantly giving to others, Home Instead polled family caregivers on what they hoped to receive during the holidays this year; appreciation and time off topped the list for many. As you prepare for the holidays, consider some of the following gift ideas for the caregivers in your life:

  • Recognition. The pressures of caregiving can leave many feeling stressed out and underappreciated. Small gifts like handwritten cards from family members, friends or care recipients can go a long way in showing caregivers you are thankful for all that they do. Couple this with a fresh bouquet of flowers to truly brighten their day.
  • Your Time. Give the gift of time and support by offering to help with caregiving tasks, whether for an afternoon or a few days. This gives caregivers a moment to rest, recharge and focus on their own health – because when a caregiver’s needs are met, the care recipient will benefit as well. If you are unable to provide assistance, consider seeking out the temporary support of a professional caregiver. A more formal arrangement such as respite care can be a solution to helping caregivers get a much-needed break.
  • Gift cards and subscription services. Treat a caregiver to the things they enjoy with a gift certificate to their favorite restaurant, store, coffee shop or spa. Paying for meal delivery services or a streaming platform can also offer caregivers a chance to wind down and practice self-care.
  • Acts of service. Sometimes the act of lending a helping hand is the best gift. Whether it’s loading up the fridge with home-cooked meals or offering to clean up around the house or yard, small acts of service can be a huge help in making caregivers’ lives easier and manageable.

As you plan your holiday shopping this season, remember to include caregivers on your list. Celebrating family caregivers and offering support is something you can do now and year-round to make a meaningful impact. And don’t forget the seniors in your life – a thoughtful gift can make this holiday season even more special for our older loved ones. Attorney Allan Parker of The Justice Foundation offers an invitation to a National Day of Repentance November 30

We will gather together and pray for the Supreme Court Justices to rule with righteousness, to overturn Roe v. Wade, and to end the shedding of innocent blood in our land.

On Wednesday, December 1, 2021, The Supreme Court will be hearing the Oral Argument in the Mississippi Ban on Late-Term Abortion Case, Dobbs. https://www.scotusblog.com/case-files/cases/dobbs-v-jackson-womens-health-organization/

The law’s intent is to ban late-term abortions after 15-weeks.

According to The Justice Foundation founder Allan Parker, the Dobbs case is the best opportunity since 1992 to see the reversal of Roe v. Wade and end legalized abortion in our country.

Said Parker, “We believe we should come together to pray the day before, the day of, and the day after the Oral Argument.”

“The final decision on the Dobbs case is expected to be announced by the Supreme Court in June 2022, so we must continue to pray even after this three-day event, opined Parker.

Allan Parker in concert with other pro-life activists have scheduled a global 40-hour broadcast in support of the Dobbs case, featuring:

  • Live prayer and worship events at the Lincoln Memorial, the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial, and the Supreme Court on November 30, 2021.
  • Hearing the Supreme Court Oral Argument on December 1, 2021 at 10 am ET
  • Mississippi’s ‘Empowering Women’ Rally in front of the Supreme Court on December 1, 2021 from 8am to 12 pm ET.
  • Global Ministry Leaders leading our event in prayers of repentance and worship.

Additional information about the marathon broadcast, including directions on how to view the event, is available at NationalDayOfRepentance.org.

Allan Parker offers the following Q&A for those considering participating in the event:

Q: May I attend in person in DC?

A: Yes, don’t hesitate to get in touch with nationaldayofrenentance@gmail.com for scheduling and more information

Q: Which ministries are involved with the National Day of Repentance?

A: For the list of over 70+ endorsing ministries, please see our website.

Q: How can I get more involved locally if I cannot attend in person in DC?

A: Several ways: Share this event, assemble a group from your church for viewing and praying gathering during the event, pray in front of abortion clinics, donate to pregnancy resource centers, sign The Moral Outcry petition at TheMoralOutcry.com, share the NDR Promo video and prayer guides on our website.

Pray for the Supreme Court Justices to rule with righteousness, to overturn Roe v. Wade, and to end the shedding of innocent blood in our land. Most importantly, pray for The Body of Christ in America to turn from our wicked ways and repent.

ABOUT ALLAN PARKER:

Allan Parker is the President of The Justice Foundation and was lead counsel for Norma McCorvey, formerly “Roe” of Roe v. Wade, from 2000 to 2012, and Sandra Cano, the “Doe” of Doe v. Bolton, until 2014 in their efforts to overturn the two landmark cases that brought legalized abortion on demand to America.

Dr. John McKeon, explained that “ASL are delighted to announce our partnership with the ISSA’s Global Biorisk Advisory Council. This is a unique collaboration, to empower and educate people across the globe on the urgent issue of health in the indoor environment and how it impacts on well being.”

The asthma & allergy friendly® Certification Program, which is jointly operated by Allergy Standards Limited (ASL) and the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America (AAFA) was thrilled to participate in the International Sanitary Supply Association’s (ISSA) Show North America 2021 that took place from November 15 – 18 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Dr. John McKeon, CEO of Allergy Standards Limited and Dave Morrissey, CIO of Allergy Standards Limited were in attendance on behalf of the Certification Program. They were among more than 10,000 cleaning industry professionals who gathered, applying strict COVID-19 protocols, to join the ISSA North America Show, taking place for the first time in two years.

ISSA’s annual event is where leaders of the worldwide cleaning industry gather to network, transfer knowledge, and create innovative cleaning solutions to better serve the global community.

A major theme at this year’s show was the new mantra of “Cleaning for Health” rather than just “cleaning for appearance”. Removing asthma and allergy triggers at source is key to achieving a healthier home, workplace or school environment, and our ‘air aware’ clients at the show included 3M, Bona, Sanitaire and Renegade Brands.

Renegade Brands, the Certification Program’s newest client, launched their SWEAT-X Free and Clear as the first laundry detergent to earn the asthma & allergy friendly® Certification. Their CEO, Bill Sherman stated, “Renegade Brands is pleased to introduce our new CERTIFIED asthma & allergy friendly® Sweat X Free and Clear Laundry Detergent at the ISSA Show North America 2021 alongside the Certification Program and Allergy Standards Ltd. We can now scientifically demonstrate that SWEAT-X Free and Clear removes 99% of allergens and irritants, reduces allergen exposure, and contributes to a healthier indoor environment.”

The asthma & allergy friendly® Certification Mark was proudly displayed at the show, and participants were able to visit Renegade’s booth to learn more about this product and the mission of the Certification Program to improve the lives of those impacted by asthma and allergies. We celebrated the news at the Renegade booth, conducting interviews, meeting with industry professionals and editors, alongside Renegade’s team of executives to share this partnership with the worldwide cleaning industry.

Allergy Standards Limited (ASL), the scientific and international standards body which operates the Certification Program alongside the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America (AAFA), also announced their partnership with GBAC, the Global Biorisk Advisory Council™ a division of ISSA, on a unique educational program. Patricia Olinger (Executive Director), along with Gavin Macgregor-Skinner (Senior Director), represented GBAC to share this exciting news, which was announced at the ISSA media center in the exhibition hall. Dr. John McKeon, explained that “ASL are delighted to announce our partnership with the ISSA’s Global Biorisk Advisory Council. This is a unique collaboration, to empower and educate people across the globe on the urgent issue of health in the indoor environment and how it impacts on well being.”

The events will take place at Sarasota Art Museum and Urbanite Theatre.

“At CAN we believe that collaboration and partnership are essential to community service. Having these two very different organizations – SAM and Urbanite Theatre – partner with us in support of World AIDS DAY and A Day With(out) Art will make a significant impact,” said Roger Capote, Sr. Vice President and Chief Communications Officer for CAN.

Quilts will be displayed within the Museum’s McGuire Hall.

Sarasota Art Museum Executive Director Virginia Shearer said, “Felix Gonzalez-Torres was a thoughtful artist whose work is very accessible to the public. Though his work is infused with fun and light-heartedness, he never lost site of its deeper meaning and his mission, which is to have the public engage with issues that mattered to him by participating with his art. The work ‘Untitled’ is from a series called ‘The Candy Spill,’ and is actually a metaphor for the deterioration of the body during illness.”

The evening’s program will also feature Guest Speaker Jon Arterton, an AIDS activist and person living with AIDS, a live performance by Diversity: The Voices of Sarasota, “Faces of HIV” panels & CAN Community Health timeline, and CAN Patient Video Tribute. Located in the historic Sarasota High School, Sarasota Art Museum opened to the public in 2019 in the beautifully reimagined building by K/R Architects. The new Museum is comprised of 15,000 square feet of dedicated exhibition space, a plaza court, the Great Lawn featuring temporary sculpture and site-specific installations, Bistro, and SHOP.
