180 Medical, one of America’s leading providers of intermittent catheters, incontinence products, and ostomy supplies, is pleased to announce that Yousra Mohamed has become the first student to receive their new Caregiver Scholarship. This scholarship program aims to help college students who are currently unpaid caregivers of a family member or loved one with a chronic disability. These students frequently face limited financial resources as well as limited time for studying and gaining experience to enter their desired career path. Recognizing this, 180 Medical has opened this new annual scholarship program to aid these caregivers in their educational pursuits.
After a rigorous process of judging, 180 Medical proudly announced the very first recipient of the 180 Medical Caregiver Scholarship Program, Yousra Mohamed. Yousra has acted as a caregiver to her mother since an early age. Yousra credits her experience as a caregiver to her parent as a journey that “has filled me with empathy and motivation to pursue a future career in medicine.”
Yousra began her freshman year at the University of Southern California this fall with the help of the 180 Medical Ron Howell Caregiver Scholarship award of $1,000. She says, “Thank you for this generous scholarship. I am appreciative and truly honored.”
Mark Jassey, Chief Commercial Officer of 180 Medical, says, “We’re so proud to be able to assist Yousra with her goals through our new Caregiver Scholarship program. We’re sure her experience as a caregiver from such an early age will influence her dedication to care and compassion both at school, among her peers, and in her future career.”
The 180 Medical Ron Howell Caregiver Scholarship was named for 180 Medical’s former President, Ron Howell, who retired from 180 Medical after nearly 15 years of working to ensure we continue to uphold 180 Medical founder Todd Brown’s vision of providing the very best catheter, ostomy, and incontinence supplies along with the best possible service.
Seth Segel, President of 180 Medical, says, “Ron Howell built and led 180 Medical with a drive to achieve true excellence in all areas. As Yousra begins her college journey, we are confident that she too will pursue her studies with the same enthusiasm.”
In addition to 180 Medical’s role as a leading supplier of direct-to-home insurance covered medical supplies, 180 Medical also likes to give back to local communities across America to touch and help support others through charitable actions. The 180 Medical Ron Howell Caregiver Scholarship is another way to extend support to caregivers who want to use their experience to help change the world for the better.
180 Medical thanks all caregivers, including those who balance their collegiate studies with their care of a loved one. These students are true heroes, and the Ron Howell Caregiver Scholarship will continue to recognize these incredible individuals for years to come.
