2022 Senior Care Marketing & Sales Summit (SMASH) sold out; industry-leading event plans for bigger 2023 program

[ad_1]

SMASH logo

In its first year under the ownership of HMP Global, the Senior Care Marketing & Sales Summit (SMASH) has sold out its 2022 meeting, slated for October 24-26 in Las Vegas.

In its first year under the ownership of HMP Global, the Senior Care Marketing & Sales Summit (SMASH) has sold out its 2022 meeting, slated for October 24-26 in Las Vegas.

SMASH is the premier meeting for C-Suite sales and marketing executives within senior housing and post-acute care organizations looking to master strategies that capture market share and win customers. HMP Global, the world’s largest healthcare event and education company, acquired the event in February, as part of its expanding senior care portfolio that includes the Senior Living Executive Conference and the Annals of Long-Term Care medical journal.

The SMASH event this year features more than 50 educational sessions over three days, along four robust learning tracks: digital marketing; marketing strategy and management; post-acute care; and sales strategy and management.

“Today’s senior housing customer is not the customer of the past,” said Bailey Beeken, SMASH organizer and managing director. “Eighty percent of sales happen before your team members speak or meet with a prospect. Now more than ever, marketing and sales must engage customers at a highly personalized level through a mix of traditional, digital, and social platforms. Whether you’re offering assisted living, memory care, life plan, or independent living community settings, SMASH offers the latest tactics and strategies to compete and win.”

To accommodate the growing need, she said, SMASH organizers are planning a larger event in 2023 that will build on this year’s program with critical training and professional development for senior care sales and marketing professionals. Next year’s event will be held October 16-18, 2023, at the JW Marriott Las Vegas Resort & Spa.

“There is inspiration and innovation at every turn at SMASH,” said conference board member Michelle Glass, corporate vice president, Senior Living and In-Home Services for Bethesda Senior Living. “Sessions are led by industry professionals with up-to-date, real-life information and strategies. This is a community of like-minded people who are passionate about those we serve.”

SMASH offers the latest marketing and sales strategies, delivered in action-oriented sessions with helpful take-aways, including lead generation and conversion strategies, data measurement and management, media strategy, marketing automation, small team strategies, and the latest updates in grassroots and traditional marketing. It also features updates on executive-level sales management, including talent acquisition and retention, process management, and working with cross-functional teams.

InfoBionic Innovates Virtual Telemetry Reshaping Hospital-to-Home Care

[ad_1]

MoMe™ ARC

We were the first FDA-approved deep learning software-as-a-service remote cardiac monitoring platform for the home that replicates in-hospital style monitoring to capture and stream beat-to-beat full disclosure cardiac data for 24/7 on-demand review while allowing for global billing.

The Virtual Telemetry Company, InfoBionic, is introducing the cloud-based MoMe™ ARC (Advanced Remote Cardiology) Platform capable of capturing real-time to near real-time cardiac monitoring data. There are no limits to the level of medical complexity. The MoMe™ ARC Platform is being designed as noninvasive and adaptable for low-acuity to high-acuity patients in both inpatient and outpatient settings.(2) MoMe™ ARC technology also is intended to support a range of compatible third-party RPM (remote patient monitoring) devices, such as blood pressure cuffs, oximeters, and scales.(4)

MoMe® cardiac devices can detect and assist clinicians with the diagnoses of up to 30 different arrhythmias.(1) When a patient presses a button on the device, the cardiologist receives the patient’s data on a cell phone, tablet, or PC and can immediately make a cardiac arrhythmia diagnosis.(3) Patients become more engaged in their health care, and waiting days to weeks for test results is no longer the norm.

The next generation MoMe devices and sensors are being designed to offer virtual, high-fidelity cardiac data using Bluetooth® technology, with the intention to allow for maximum comfort. The intended highly durable and water-resistant designs will allow for monitoring a patient’s cardiac activity no matter where they are, much like it already does today. We see a future where battery management becomes a thing of the past and know that integrated battery and wireless charging capabilities, will offer the most convenience and peace of mind.(4)

The future of the MoMe™ ARC platform is being designed for continuous monitoring from hospital to home with no data interruption. The plans include to offer configuration flexibility a modular lead set suite from 1 channel to 3 channels to best suit each patient’s individual needs. MoMe™ Solutions enables secure access for healthcare providers to interpret patient data with AI-assisted analysis, quality control, alerting, and reporting.(4)

InfoBionic CEO Stuart Long explains, “We were the first FDA-approved deep learning software-as-a-service remote cardiac monitoring platform for the home that replicates in-hospital style monitoring to capture and stream beat-to-beat full disclosure cardiac data for 24/7 on-demand review while allowing for global billing. We like to say that we see 100% of the heartbeats, 100% of the time. Our mobile cardiac monitoring system shortens the distance between physicians and their patients, giving them new levels of control and deeper insight to make more efficient and effective decisions and diagnoses—all while optimizing the patient experience and the practice’s workflows.”(3)

Long also notes that “as healthcare moves away from the traditional fee-for-service model, our unique Software as a Service (SaaS) solution positions the practice to better adapt to and compete in a value-based system.”(5)

The InfoBionic® mission statement is to enable the first virtual telemetry system for low- to high-acuity patients from hospital to home. InfoBionic helps improve patient outcomes and saves lives.

ATA Awards $120,000 Inaugural “Kent Taylor Texas Roadhouse Tinnitus Research Grant”

[ad_1]

The American Tinnitus Association is pleased to announce that it has awarded its first “Kent Taylor Texas Roadhouse Tinnitus Research Grant” to Julia Campbell, Au.D., Ph.D., assistant professor for the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders at the University of Texas at Austin.

Dr. Campbell and her team will apply the $120,000 grant to investigate auditory gating and its role in the perception of tinnitus. “Gating is a type of automatic filter, suppressing repetitive or unimportant information from reaching conscious perception,” Dr. Campbell said. “This function has been tied to tinnitus severity in adults with normal hearing, but it is unclear how gating may operate in the presence of both hearing loss and tinnitus, which typically occur together.” If decreased gating is highly related to tinnitus even in the presence of hearing loss, it may provide a clinical measure of tinnitus, as well as a potential site for targeted intervention, she added.

The two-year investigation could directly inform evidence-based practice for tinnitus assessment and intervention, so that a clinical measure and targeted treatment could become standard care.

The “Kent Taylor Texas Roadhouse Tinnitus Research Grant” was made possible by participating Texas Roadhouse restaurants, which partnered with the ATA during Tinnitus Awareness Week in 2022 to honor their founder Kent Taylor, who struggled with tinnitus the last year of his life. Funds raised by Texas Roadhouse, which has more than 600 locations in the U.S., were equally allocated between research and tinnitus awareness, including support of the ATA’s Tinnitus Advisors Program, which offers 15-minute free consultations to people struggling with tinnitus.

“As a nonprofit exclusively dedicated to supporting people with tinnitus and funding research for cures and better treatments, we are tremendously grateful to Texas Roadhouse, their employees, and their many patrons who believe tinnitus deserves more attention and far more research. We look forward to seeing how Dr. Campbell’s research unfolds, and working with Texas Roadhouse to advance positive change,” said David Hadley, chair of the ATA Board of Directors.

About the ATA

The core purpose of the American Tinnitus Association is to promote relief, prevent, and find cures for tinnitus, evidenced by its core values of compassion, credibility, and responsibility.

The leading cause of tinnitus is exposure to loud sound that damages an individual’s auditory system; the second leading cause is head or neck trauma. Tinnitus also is the leading service-connected disability for U.S. veterans. The ATA is almost exclusively funded by individual donors to fulfill its mission. Please donate and/or consider becoming a member so the ATA can continue to improve the quality of life for those living with tinnitus and to educate the public on its prevention.

If your tinnitus is causing you distress, getting help is crucial. Call 1-800-634-8978, ext. 3, if you need general guidance on tinnitus management and care in your local area.

Fragment-Based Drug Discovery — Hitting Targets Using the Right Chemistry and Expertise Alliances, Upcoming Webinar Hosted by Xtalks

[ad_1]

FBDD exhibits several advantages over high-throughput screening campaigns in terms of cost, chemical diversity, and broader sampling for potential follow-up compounds.

Fragment Based Drug Discovery (FBDD) has become of increasing importance and interest in the past decade for hit finding and optimization. FBDD led to approved therapeutics and numerous drug candidates. It has empowered the industry to address targets that had previously been deemed “undruggable”.

FBDD uses the advantages of biophysical, biostructural and biochemical methods for the detection of low molecular weight molecules, so-called “fragments”, that bind to a target. FBDD exhibits several advantages over high-throughput screening campaigns in terms of cost, chemical diversity, and broader sampling for potential follow-up compounds.

Numerous case studies of covalent and non-covalent screening fragment strategies have led to successful applications in druggability assessment of proteins. In this talk, experts in the field of FBDD will present case studies and potential of a spectrum of cutting-edge strategies for a successful hit identification and optimization campaigns.

In addition, Dr. Nir London (Weizmann Institute of Science, Israel) will present how electrophilic fragment screening can accelerate the discovery of a new generation of covalent probes for challenging targets. Here he will describe application of this method for the discovery of the first in-vivo active chemical probe for the proline isomerase Pin1, as well as against the SARS-CoV-2 main protease.

Join this webinar to learn how fragment-based drug discovery solutions —such as DRIVE-SM — enable the identification, characterization, design and optimization of fragments into a preclinical drug candidate.

Join Dr. Thomas Schubert, Managing Director, 2bind; Dr. Serghei Glinca, Founder & CEO, CrystalsFirst; Dr. Nir London, President of the Med. Chem. Section of the Israel Chemical Society, Weizmann Institute; and Dr. Yann Lamotte, Chemistry Team Manager, Oncodesign, for the live webinar on Thursday, October 13, 2022, at 11am EDT (4pm BST/UK).
